Work out your Loyalty Points and how close Gold is

Last verified 9 August 2026

American AAdvantage Loyalty Points are earned at 5 points per eligible dollar of spend, and elite status lifts that rate rather than leaving it alone. Gold earns 1.4 times the base rate, Platinum 1.6 times, Platinum Pro 1.8 times and Executive Platinum 2.2 times, so an Executive Platinum member earns 11 Loyalty Points per eligible dollar. American is the one major programme whose status bonus raises the qualifying balance as well as the redeemable one. Enter your spend and pick your tier below to see your Loyalty Points and progress toward status.

Worked example: 1,000 USD of spend earns 5,000 LP.

Frequently asked questions

Do elite tiers earn Loyalty Points faster?
Yes. American is the one major programme whose status bonus lifts Loyalty Points as well as redeemable miles. The base rate is 5 Loyalty Points per eligible dollar; Gold earns 1.4 times that, Platinum 1.6 times, Platinum Pro 1.8 times and Executive Platinum 2.2 times. An Executive Platinum member therefore earns 11 Loyalty Points per eligible dollar, against 5 for a general member.
What spend counts toward Loyalty Points?
Eligible fare, excluding most government taxes and fees, on American-marketed tickets, plus AAdvantage co-branded card spend. Card spend earns 1 Loyalty Point per dollar and does not take the flight status multiplier.
What are the 2026 status thresholds?
Gold at 40,000, Platinum at 75,000, Platinum Pro at 125,000 and Executive Platinum at 200,000 Loyalty Points, pending confirmation on aa.com.
